Hi Milton,
When you import photos into iLovePhotos, it only keeps track of where you photos are, and does not make copies of them.
iLovePhotos stores thumbnail versions of your photos so that it can load them faster when you scroll. When you go to view the original photo in the single image view, fullscreen view, or a slideshow, iLovePhotos will look for the original, and display the question mark if it's not found.

I uploaded my photos from and external hard drive to ilovephotos library. When I remove the hd, images remain in the library but a "?" appears and says "image not found". What gives?
