Steve,
here's how to make a non-person tag:
1) on one of the photos, create a "face" box (it could be anywhere on the photo)
2) make a new tag from that box, and deselect the checkbox for "this tag is a person"
3) you can then drag photos (not just boxes) over to that tag
There isn't currently a shortcut to create a tag. However, you can create new tags in the gray area between existing tags (the existing tags will make room for the new one). You can also change the size of the tags (click on the little gear button above the tag tray to bring up the size options -- this can also be done from the View menu).
Hi steve,
Thanks a lot for writing and I'm glad to hear you like iLovePhotos.
Your first instinct for creating a tag from a bunch of selected photos is a good one, and we're currently working on improving this. For now the workaround that Katharine mentioned is the best way to accomplish that
There actually is a shortcut for creating new tags (and tagging in general)...
When you have faces selected, you can start typing the name of the person and a box will appear that suggests matches from your list of tagged people.
To create a new tag...just type "new" and you'll see "New Tag" as an option. Choose this and its the same as putting a new tag at the bottom of the list of tags.
Hope this helps and feel free to contact us anytime if you have any other questions or feedback.
Thanks!,
Cory
Hi,
I have a problem when I try to tag an entire photo (for example, I want to tag a group of photos with "holiday 2008"). I perform a multiple selection in the thumbnail image browser and then drag do an empty tag slot in the right-hand frame, but this does not seem to work. Am I doing something wrong?
Also, is there a shortcut to create a new tag? It's sometimes a pain to have to scroll to the bottom of your tags to create a new one, if you have a lot of tags.
I really enjoyed using the software - I found it much easier to tag faces than in iPhoto, despite the lack of automatic face recognition.
Thanks,
Steve
